The Sandy Beach residence, designed by Yuan Yu, is a stunning coastal retreat that seamlessly blends nature and luxury. Inspired by the beauty of the ocean, this residential house offers a unique and relaxing experience for its occupants.
The interior of the living room features shell sofas, stone coffee tables, and wall hangings that create the illusion of drifting on an island. The wooden table resembles a boat floating on the vast sea, while a white cloud overhead adds to the ambiance. These elements come together to create a truly enchanting space.
What sets Sandy Beach apart is its focus on recreation. As a second residence for vacation and leisure, practicality takes a backseat to creating a relaxed atmosphere and providing ample space for interaction. The design breaks free from traditional rules, allowing for a more enjoyable and carefree experience.
The main materials used in the realization of this design include wood flooring, slate, and latex paint. These choices not only contribute to the overall aesthetic but also ensure durability and sustainability.
Located in Qingdao, the beach villa spans three floors, including a basement, and covers a total area of 450 square meters. It is designed to accommodate a family of four, providing them with a warm and exquisite living space during their vacations.
The large French windows in the house allow an abundance of natural light to flood the basement, creating a seamless connection between the indoors and outdoors. By adding green plants or transparent acrylic furniture, the space opens up, offering a comfortable and inviting atmosphere.
The project began in April 2021 and was completed in August 2022, both in Qingdao. Throughout the design process, the focus was on creating a holiday home that would meet the owners' desires for comfort and relaxation.
One of the design challenges was breaking away from traditional norms. The use of terrazzo brick flooring with black as the base and white particles scattered throughout adds a lively and carefree touch to the space. This deviation from the norm sets the tone for the entire design, emphasizing freedom and creativity.
The designers took inspiration from the vastness of the sea and applied it to the spatial layout. The functional areas of the house flow seamlessly into one another, creating an open and expansive environment. The staircase, serving as a connection between the floors, is not just a means of transportation but also a design element that adds character to the space.
The Sandy Beach residence, with its unique blend of elegance and natural elements, offers a truly exceptional living experience. It is a testament to the creativity and ingenuity of Yuan Yu, the designer behind this remarkable project.
